MATERNITY LEAVE POLICY

This Maternity Leave Policy (hereinafter referred to as” Policy”) applies to all the female employees of the [INSERT THE NAME OF THE COMPANY] (hereinafter referred to as “Us” or “we” or “Company”). We prioritize the health and safety of our employees, allowing them sufficient time for recovery and facilitating bonding during the initial stages of infancy.

This policy outlines the clear guidelines for maternity leave entitlements and benefits for the employees.

  1. PURPOSE
    1. The purpose of this policy is to provide support and promote well-being of our female employees during the crucial phase of maternity by providing them with adequate leave entitlements and benefits. This policy aims to provide work-life balance and safety, ensuring that female employees can balance their professional responsibilities with the demands of pregnancy, childbirth and early childcare.
  2. ELIGIBILITY
    1. All female employees of the Company are eligible for maternity leave benefits under this policy, regardless of their position or length of service.
  3. MATERNITY LEAVE
    1. Paid Maternity Leave- Female employees are entitled to a minimum of 26 weeks (up to 6 months) of paid maternity leave for first and second child, out of which they can take a maximum of 8 weeks leave before their expected delivery date.
    2. Extended leave- In case female employees wish to extend their maternity leave because of certain medical reasons, beyond the statutory period of 26 weeks, they may submit an application to the HR department with medical documents. However, the additional leave beyond 26 weeks will be unpaid.
  4. APPLICATION PROCESS
    1. Female employees must notify their immediate senior and the HR department in writing at least six weeks before the intended start date of their maternity leave.
    2. Employees are required to provide a medical certificate and other relevant documents confirming the expected date of delivery.
  5. MATERNITY LEAVE BENEFITS
    1. During maternity leave, every eligible female employee will receive their full salary and medical benefits, ensuring her financial stability and well-being.
    2. Maternity leave safeguards the health and development of mothers and their infants by granting them essential time for recovery and to nurture their children.

  6. RETURN TO WORK
    1. Female employees are expected to return to work at the end of their approved maternity leave period.
    2. The Company intends that employees returning from Maternity leave will re-assume the position they held prior to commencing leave. The Company is not obliged to agree to any employee requests for variation from the previous work pattern. If the position is no longer available, maternal leave employees will be entitled to an available position nearest in status and salary to their former position.

The employee must comply with the company's policies and procedures with respect and dignity. Employees and Supervisors must stay informed about the laws relevant to their roles and responsibilities and ensure that their actions and decisions align with legal standards of the Company.

    1. This maternity leave policy will be reviewed periodically by the concerned department to ensure its effectiveness and compliance with relevant legislation.
