EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN

OVERVIEW

This Emergency Action Plan outlines procedures and standards to be followed, in the events of disruption and emergency. Our Company is committed to ensuring safety of employees in the event of an unexpected situation or emergency.

  1. PURPOSE
    1. The purpose of this plan is to establish a clear framework of set guidelines, to ensure safety of our employees and members during the unwanted disruptions and emergencies. It helps to identify potential threats and measures to safeguard Company operations from such vulnerabilities. This plan outlines the roles and responsibilities, evacuation routes, emergency contacts and communication protocols.
  2. SCOPE
    1. This plan applies to all employees, visitors, contractors, and any other individual; present on the premises of the Company. This plan covers emergencies or situations such as fires, disasters, medical emergencies, and violence.
  3. EMERGENCY CONTACTS

  4. EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION ALERTS

  5. EVACUATION PROCEDURES
    1. The employees should evacuate in the following manner [INSERT EVACUATION PROCEDURE]. They should familiarize themselves with nearest and safest exits and alternative routes.

    3. The Company will conduct evacuation drills at least once in a year or more to ensure awareness and alertness.
  6. FIRE EMERGENCIES
    1. In case of a fire emergency, the fire alarm will activate, alerting everyone in the building to evacuate immediately. Employees should remain calm and follow these steps:
      1. Upon hearing the alarm, leave your work area without delay.
      2. Use the nearest exit or the designated evacuation route to exit the building. Familiarize yourself with the evacuation routes or maps posted throughout the premises, which indicate the closest exits.
      3. Always take the stairs instead of the elevators. Elevators can become inoperable or may stop on a floor with smoke or fire, putting you at risk.
      4. If it is safe to do so, assist colleagues, especially those who may need help, such as individuals with disabilities.
      5. After evacuation, proceed to the designated assembly area, this area is a safe distance from the building and allows for an accurate attendance.
      6. Once in the assembly area, contact the assigned Emergency Coordinator or security guards. They will account for all personnel and report any missing individuals to emergency responders.
      7. Remain in the assembly area and do not attempt to re-enter the building until emergency services have declared it safe. Your safety is paramount, and re-entering without instruction can put you and others at risk.
  7. MEDICAL EMERGENCIES
    1. In case of a medical emergency, employees should remain calm and follow these steps:
      1. Immediately dial the appropriate emergency number to reach medical emergency personnel or an ambulance.
      2. When speaking with the emergency coordinator, clearly communicate the following information to ensure a prompt response:
      3. Describe the situation in detail. Explain what happened, the condition of the injured person, and any relevant symptoms. For example, if someone has collapsed, mention whether they are conscious or breathing.
      4. Provide the exact address or location within the building where the emergency is occurring. Be specific, including any identifying landmarks, room numbers, or nearby exits that will help responders find you quickly.
      5. Give the full name of the individual who is injured or in need of medical assistance. If possible, also provide information about their age and any known medical conditions that coordinators should be aware of.
      6. After providing the necessary information, stay on the line if instructed and follow any additional guidance given by the coordinator. They may ask further questions or provide instructions on how to assist the injured person until help arrives.
  8. NATURAL DISASTERS AND WEATHER EMERGENCIES
    1. In the event of an earthquake or other natural disaster, it is crucial to remain calm and take the following actions:
      1. Cover your head and neck (or your entire body, if possible) under a sturdy piece of furniture, such as a table or desk. If there is no shelter nearby, cover your head and neck with your arms.
      2. Move away from windows, glass, and heavy furniture or appliances that may fall. This includes bookcases, mirrors, and wall decorations.
      3. Move to an open area away from buildings, trees, streetlights, and utility wires. Stay there until the shaking stops. Be aware of possible hazards like falling debris.
      4. After the Shaking Stops, check yourself and those around you for injuries. Provide first aid if needed.
      5. Be prepared for aftershocks, which can occur minutes to days after the initial quake. Follow the same safety procedures during aftershocks. If instructed, evacuate the building calmly using the nearest safe exit. Avoid using elevators.
      6. Once you have evacuated, go to the designated assembly area. Wait there for further instructions from emergency personnel or your Emergency Coordinator.
  9. WORKPLACE VIOLENCE
    1. In the event of a workplace violence incident, it is essential to take immediate action to ensure your safety and the safety of others. Here are the steps to follow:
      1. If you witness or experience an act of workplace violence, try to remain as calm as possible. This will help you think clearly and make rational decisions.
      2. Quickly evaluate the nature of the violence. Determine if it poses an immediate threat to your safety or the safety of those around you.
      3. If you are in a safe location and can leave the area, do so immediately. If you cannot escape, find a secure place to hide where you can lock the door if necessary.
